An orientation to discuss the process of selecting the correct summer internship and apply successfully was organized by ECaFSS and presented on October 18, 2018 at UPR Mayagüez. Students learned about the different types of available internships, the importance of applying early and the benefits they could receive by being selected in for these experiences. Recommendations about the required documents, time frames and the differences between SROP, REU, among others were discussed. Three ECaFSS scholars presented their experiences in summer programs and encouraged others to apply for next year. Mr. José Santiago presented his experience at The Ohio State University on summer 2017, Mr. Franco Acevedo presented his experience at The Pennsylvania State University on summer 2018 and Mr. Gabdiel Yulfo presented his two summer experiences at Michigan State University on summer 2017 and 2018. Participants also received a list of internship opportunities in Agricultural Sciences and related disciplines within different agencies and universities.
