Marian Espola Sepúlveda
ECaFSS Project Coordinator
Professor Marian Espola Sepúlveda is ECaFSS Project Coordinator and serves as a liaison between the project’s four collaborating institutions. She assists the Project Director in the coordination and management of program activities for both students and faculty, placing students in summer internships and data collection. She obtained a Master of Science in Biology (Mycology) in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Microbiology (2001) from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She is the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, San Germán Campus where she also teaches courses at undergraduate level such as General Microbiology, Mycology and Cellular and Molecular Biology Skills Laboratory. She had mentored undergraduate students by providing them research experiences in microbiology and mycology. She had also worked as resource professor and workshop instructor in different projects helping elementary and middle school teachers to improve their courses through the integration of science and mathematics. As an active member of the Puerto Rican Mycological Society, she had been part of its directive committee and was president during the 2016-2017 year.
