Willdan UPRM Internship Program
The Willdan Internship Program is focused on mentorship and providing a rewarding experience to undergraduate and master’s students. Project Description
The Willdan team is developing software for utility energy efficiency programs. This platform will serve as a key tool for all stakeholder interactions, and will house all relevant program information, manage data, and facilitate each step of the programs’ energy efficiency projects. Willdan is looking for fresh and creative minds to develop the front and back end of the platform.
Broad Scope of Internship Work
• Work on a full-time 10-week software development project with a team of interns and/or full-time developers
• Use Microsoft .NET Core technologies and other software tools to solve problems that have an immediate impact on product operations
• Receive mentorship and guidance from our highly accomplished development team members, participate in team meetings and work on actual projects in our commercial software products
• Learn and practice Agile development methodologies in a highly collaborative, team environment
• Write code, be creative, and solve complex technical problems
• Possibility of registering in a formal alternative learning coursework
• Possibility of conversion to a full-time employee
• Competitive pay and benefits (hourly rates range from $20-$30 depending on seniority)
Requirements
• Be an active student in good standing at UPRM
• At least 12 credits of coursework or experience writing high-performance, reusable code for UI components
• At least 12 credits of coursework or experience developing rich applications with HTML/CSS/JS
• Proficiency in Angular or SQL required
• Knowledge of TypeScript for JavaScript
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, an undergraduate (junior or senior status) or a graduate degree with Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering major
• Passion for technology, building software, and continuous learning
• Capacity to work independently with limited supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English, and team interaction skills
