We’re proud to share the success of our P-Box initiative, where 39 students from grades 7–9 participated in hands-on workshops focused on chemical engineering and bioengineering. This outreach activity was made possible through support from our NSF-AIRfoundry Center.
Special thanks to our graduate students, Leonel Vélez, María Ramos, María Oñate, Yarley Maza, Oscar Piñeres, undergraduates, Estela Alamo, Amanda Rosario, Emilio López, Ariana Martell, Kamille Santiago, Jorelys De Jesús, Paola Gordils, instrument specialists, Alejandra Varela, and professors, Claribel Acevedo Vélez, Camilo Andres Mora Navarro, and Maribella Domenech, for leading the charge in recruitment and in spreading scientific knowledge to the next generation!
A group of middle school students, wearing safety goggles and gloves, are gathered around tables actively participating in hands-on science experiments. They are engaged and smiling as they mix substances and observe reactions, with guidance from facilitators nearby.A team of graduate and undergraduate chemical engineering students stand at the front of a classroom, speaking to the young audience. One is pointing at a slide on the projector, while others assist and answer questions. The room is filled with attentive students seated and focused on the talk.Professor Camilo Andres Mora Navarro is speaking to the middle school students, standing confidently near a screen with a colorful science-themed presentation. He gestures enthusiastically, connecting with the students, who are listening intently.
