The UPRM Film Certificate is partnering with the Puerto Rico Film Festival to screen selected movies from the 2025 festival program, including The Water Protectors, a short documentary film by Carhianie Vargas Padín produced by the Oral History Lab in collaboration with the Blue Water Task Force of Surfrider Foundation Rincón and the Humanities Action Lab with funding from the Mellon Foundation. The Water Protectors explores topics of hyper development, unregulated sewage disposal, contamination, climate change, and community action on the west coast of Puerto Rico. It will be shown along with other UPRM films and a selection of the best films from the 2025 Puerto Rico Film Festival.

El Certificado de Cine del RUM se asocia con el Puerto Rico Film Festival para proyectar películas seleccionadas de la programación del festival de 2025, incluyendo Los guardianes del agua, un cortometraje documental de Carhianie Vargas Padín, producido por el Laboratorio de Historia Oral en colaboración con el Blue Water Task Force de Fundación Surfrider Rincón y el Humanities Action Lab, con fondos de la Mellon Foundation. Los guardianes del agua explora temas como el hiperdesarrollo, la eliminación de aguas residuales no regulada, la contaminación, el cambio climático y la acción comunitaria en la costa oeste de Puerto Rico. Se proyectará junto con otras películas de la UPRM y una selección de las mejores películas del Puerto Rico Film Festival de 2025.
