The UPRM Film Certificate is an 18-credit curricular sequence founded in 2006. It is an interdepartmental program sponsored by English, Humanities and Hispanic Studies. This certificate program offers students an in-depth introduction to film studies, as well as an understanding of the craft of filmmaking. Certificate students have won prizes at film festivals, gone on to study film at the graduate level in topflight programs at the American Film Institute, New York University, Columbia University, Columbia College – Chicago, the Savannah College of Art and Design, and elsewhere, work in film in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Atlanta, and have won Emmys. Take a course as an elective or submit an application to enroll in the Film Certificate.

Requirements
The requirements to enroll in the Film Certificate are to have completed 48 credits in any undergraduate coursework with a GPA of 2.5 or more. Applications are available in the Registrar’s Office and on their website.
