Ashley Aviles Noriega is M.a graduate student in the Department of Agro-Environmental Sciences with a major in Crop Protection at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. She received a bachelor’s degree in 2017 in Biology from the University Ana G. Mendez of Carolina, Puerto Rico. She joined the ECaFSS Project in 2017 as a graduate scholar student and is mentored by Dr. Lydia I. Rivera-Vargas. Her research project is focused on the morphological and molecular characterization of Pseudocercospora fungal species causing the Sigatoka disease complex in Puerto Rico.
¨The ECaFSS program funds my research experiences and project of the morphological and molecular characterization of Pseudocercospora fungal species causing the Sigatoka disease complex in Puerto Rico. This program also gave me the opportunity to present my research outcomes in the 11th International Mycological Congress where I got know about different projects and do networking with many professionals related to my field of interest.¨ – Ashley Aviles Noriega.
