Data collection and record keeping
This seminar will emphasize the importance of keeping a detailed record of experimental findings, including narrative observations. The value of the laboratory notebook and other records during the experimentation phase and subsequent dissemination of findings will be discussed.
Biography:
Yomaira Pagán PhD.
Yomaira Pagán-Torres is Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University ofPuerto Rico (UPR), Mayagüez. Prof. Pagán-Torres earned her BS in Chemical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, followed by a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to her academic position at UPR, Prof. Pagán-Torres worked for The Dow Chemical Company as Senior Engineer of the Feedstocks, Olefins, Chemicals & Alternative Technologies Research & Development group in Freeport, Texas. Her research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel heterogeneous catalytic materials with tailored active sites for the transformation of carbon resources, such as biomass, carbon dioxide, and methane to chemicals and fuels.
