Faculty Recognitions
Prof. Yomaira Pagán Torres was honored at the Mid-Career Researchers in Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Recognition Symposium for her excellence in research, teaching, and service. This prestigious award highlights her contributions to catalysis and reaction engineering and her dedication to advancing the field.
Prof. Claribel Acevedo Vélez received the Luminary Award from Great Minds in STEM (GMiS). This award is presented annually during the Hispanic Engineer National Achievements Awards Conference (HENAAC), recognizing individuals who lead, collaborate, and initiate key programs and research across various fields, including academia. Prof. Acevedo Vélez’s accomplishments and leadership exemplify the impact of INQU UPRM faculty on the broader STEM community.
Graduate Student Awards
Gabriela del Valle Pérez received the HENAAC Outstanding Engineering Graduate Student Leadership Award from GMiS at this year’s conference in Fort Worth, TX. Gabriela was also named a 2024 GMiS STEM Scholar and was honored with the Dow Scholarship, in recognition of her academic excellence and leadership in the field of engineering.
Luis Torrens Sotomayor achieved an outstanding milestone at the GMiS conference by winning First Place in the 2024 Research Poster Competition, Graduate Engineering/Technology category. Additionally, Luis was named a 2024 GMiS STEM Scholar and received the Rui and Larissa Cruz Family Scholarship. Luis also had the opportunity to meet Rui Vogt Alves da Cruz in person. This recognition further solidifies Luis’s dedication to advancing research and innovation in engineering.
