Doctoral degree candidate Darlene I. Santiago Quiñonez won first place in the Poster Competition held in this year’s annual meeting of the Society of Rheology, held October 24-28, 2010, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Darlene presented a poster entitled “Rheological Characterization of a Ferrofluid Consisting of Permanently Magnetized Nanoparticles,” which describes par of her dissertation research conducted under the guidance of Prof. Carlos Rinaldi. This year the Department of Chemical Engineering had a strong presence at the meeting with 10 participants presenting oral and poster presentations describing research from the groups of Prof. Aldo Acevedo, Prof. Ubaldo Cordova-Figueroa, and Prof. Carlos Rinaldi.
