Master’s Student in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Bioengineering
Joined the lab: August 2022

  • B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Universidad del Atlántico, Barranquilla, Colombia (2014-2020)

Research Interests:
The use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as cell therapy holds significant clinical potential in regenerative medicine. However, the complex manufacturing process of MSCs requires precise tracking to ensure quality and scalability. Current methods to assess MSC growth at different scales are either immature or time-consuming. This study aims to utilize metal oxide particles to trap and concentrate extracellular vesicles (EVs) from the secretome of MSC cultures. These EVs carry key biomarkers produced by MSCs, which reflect the state of cell culture, providing a predictive tool for monitoring cell culture status.
