Performance: During my student exchange program at Complutense University of Madrid, I studied four key courses:
  • Contemporary Social Structure: Explored economic inequality and their legitimacy, globalization and class divisions, examining the increasing power of the wealthy elite and the dynamics within the middle and working classes. Compared social policies and frameworks from Spain, UK. France, USA, México and Nordic countries.
  • Sociology of Gender: Focused on the social construction and reproduction of gender roles, norms, and inequalities, exploring Spain’s feminist and LGBTQIA+ movements while considering the intersections of gender, race, and class.
  • Sociology of Religion: Analyzed the sociological aspects of major world religions, with emphasis on Spain’s religious history and the balance between secularism and faith. Explored how religion interacts with politics, economics, and culture, with a particular focus on globalization and social conflict.
  • Sociology of Deviation and Exclusion: Examined social deviance, exclusion and marginalization, with case studies of the Spanish Gitanos (Roma community) in Spain, the Black community in the USA, and Latino communities in Latin America, covering topics like anomie, social stigma, social perception, and criminology
