Instructions for Printer Use at Industrial Engineering

It is important that you read this document completely, for the following instructions are a step-by-step description of how the printer should be used from the Industrial Engineering Computing Center. Take a few minutes to review these instructions because, if you make mistakes, you may end up paying extra.

How to Create Credit to Print

1.  First of all, you need printing credit. If you have not made a deposit to your account, you will not be able to print. The following are two alternatives you can use to add credit to your account. Use the one you think is best for you based on your needs.

  • Making a payment in the Finance Department. You have to fill the payment form that you will find on the table located next to the printer in the Computer Center. It is necessary to make the payment with this sheet. Also, the Finance Department requests for the payment to be exact, never fractioned (dollars and cents). When you have your receipt, take it to the Administrator at the Computer Center to process the credit.
  • Making a payment online (as long as you have a credit card or an ATM card with Banco Popular). Before starting the payment process, you should deactivate the POP-UP blocker (this only applies if you are going to use an ATM card, otherwise, you will never get the window to enter the PIN).

2.  In order to make the payment, you must go to the Payments for Service  page (http://www.uprm.edu/recaudaciones/pago/). You will find an icon on the toolbar of the browsers (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox), which takes you to this page. You can easily find it because it has the same name. When you enter this page, you will have to start filling in the required information. Pay a special attention where it says “SERVICE TO PAY”. The list of services is very long and there are 5 services available for printing payment in Industrial Engineering. The payment services are the following: $1 (RECA0054), $6 (RECA0006), $10 (RECA0007), $15 (RECA0008) and $20 (RECA0009).

NOTE:  IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE AND PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE THE PRINTER AT INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING, YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE DEPARTMENT YOU MADE THE PAYMENT TO AND REQUEST A REFUND SHEET. THEN, YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE FINANCES DEPARTMENT TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION.

3.  At the end of the payment process, the system will send your information to the administrator of the ININ Computer Center so it can be registered in your account. Keep the payment receipt in your email because, sometimes, the name of the person who made the payment does not appear in the message the system sends to the administrator. If this happens, you will need the receipt number to be able to identify the transaction. This is not an automatic process; it requires the administrator to complete the transaction so you can use the credit when you need it. Generally, this matter is attended twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon.

The Industrial Engineering printer counts with several capacities, for it is important that you know how to manage them to obtain the best benefit. It prints in color or black & white. It also has a “Duplex” unit and stapler (later explained in detail).

If you have any questions regarding these instructions, ask the administrator.

Help us to keep this equipment in good conditions!

The purchase of the printer, as well as maintenance and printing materials are acquired thanks to the payment you make to print. This ensures that you can always count on this service. The Department does not use this money. That is why we can maintain the service at such low costs.

Rules for the Use of the Computer Center and Printer

  • No drinks or meals allowed. Every sweetened beverage, candy and every kind of food is prohibited, as this represents a health and safety risk. Only consumption of water is allowed.
  • The manager of the Computer Center has the same authority as the administrator. Obey and follow his/her recommendations.
  • NEVER TRY TO MANIPULATE, OPEN, DISCONNECT OR UNLOCK THE PRINTER. THIS WORK BELONGS TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE COMPUTER CENTER OR THE MANAGER.
  • Check and read well the rules for use of electronic communications, since once you start using them, you agree to follow them. For more information you can search and read the information in the following address: http://www.uprm.edu/politicas, then look for “Telecommunications and Information Technology”.
