The Industrial Engineering Department (ININ) of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, El Colegio, welcomes you!
With nearly 20 faculty members, 690 undergraduate students, and 18 graduate students, our department is diverse with teaching and research interests covering from operations research and supply chain and logistics to manufacturing automation, applied statistics, human factors, risk and cost analysis, and engineering education.
The department offers the B.S. degree and graduate degrees (M.S. and M.E.) in industrial engineering. Our undergraduate program ranks 4 th in terms of enrollment among UPRM degree programs. Moreover, according to ASEE Engineering by the Numbers 2019, we are the 45th program in terms of degrees granted among all IE and Manufacturing Programs in the US (147 institutions included).
Industrial Engineering combines mathematical, physical, and social sciences in the design, implementation, and control of data-driven solutions for complex systems. Industrial engineers (IE) are critical thinkers that seek out opportunities to eliminate waste, increase revenue, streamline logistics, and positively impact anyone who interacts with these systems. IEs are in high demand in diverse areas such as high-tech manufacturing, health systems, government, finance, and emergency relief.
We welcome you to learn about industrial engineering, our programs, faculty, facilities, and research areas.
