Industrial Engineering Fund
Your full contribution to the Industrial Engineering Fund supports our current and future students and faculty. Through your gifts, we will:
- Improve our general building infrastructure.
- Renovate instructional resources including upgrades in technology, facilities, and other resources vital to education and research.
- Sponsor participation of students and faculty in international conferences to present their research work.
- Support student-led organizations (i.e. Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering, American Society for Quality, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, IE Graduate Students’ Association, Alpha Pi Mu Honor Society).
- Provide seed funding for novel research initiatives.
- Offer scholarships for students.
- Sponsor outreach and community-building activities.
- Coordinate special workshops, colloquiums, and events.

Becas Dr. Armando Riesco
El Dr. Riesco dejó su marca no tan solo en Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial del RUM, sino en todo Puerto Rico. El, junto a un grupo especial de profesores, contribuyó significativamente a la industria, proporcionando una maestría en Ingeniería Industrial bajo un programa de bachillerato en el Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez. Lo recordamos por su pasión de excelencia y su filosofía “la educación es enseñar a pensar”.
Su impacto trascendió el nivel profesional y docente al plano personal y humano. Sus huellas quedaron plasmadas por expresiones de sus alumnos: “Gran ser humano, maestro de maestros, profesor de profesores. Un ejemplo de ser humano para muchos”. “El mejor profesor y un ser humano especial. Siempre quiso a sus estudiantes como colegas y como hijos”. Armando profesaba un deseo y meta que logró con creces: “dejar el mundo mejor de como él lo encontró”.
También soñaba con integrar un Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial en el Gobierno de Puerto Rico para mejorar sus operaciones y gerencia administrativa tanto a nivel central como municipal. En agradecimiento al gran impacto positivo que tuvo en la docencia, en nuestras vidas, y las vidas de muchos, un grupo de familiares, exalumnos, compañeros profesores y amigos establecieron un fondo que persigue otorgar un mínimo de tres becas anuales a estudiantes de Ingeniería Industrial.
El propósito es otorgar anualmente una beca de $1,000 y de una a dos becas de $500 a estudiantes que hayan completado los cursos ININ 4150 Introducción a Modelos de Investigación de Operaciones e ININ 4155 Diseño y Análisis de Sistemas de Producción y Gerencia de Inventarios. También se otorgará un premio de $500 a un proyecto de “capstone” (ININ 4079 Proyecto de Diseño) sobresaliente, realizado en el gobierno (central o municipal) o en pequeñas y medianas empresas (PyMEs).
