Graduate Admission Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited and recognized institution. Candidates who do not have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering must have a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited and recognized institution and demonstrate that they have the following academic preparation:
    • Three calculus courses
    • Two physics courses that have calculus as a prerequisite
    • One course in differential equations
    • One course in linear algebra
    • One course in computer programming
    • One course in probability and statistics
    • Basic and intermediate English courses
  2. Bachelor’s GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. If the candidate has advanced degrees, the GPA from said degrees will be taken into consideration.
  3. Three letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a faculty member.
  4. For international students, provide evidence of a recent (less than 4 years) TOEFL iBT score of 50 or higher. In the event of not being able to access the TOEFL iBT, only the following minimum scores will be accepted as substitutes: TOELF PBT 465, TOEFL CBT 145 and IELST 5.5.
  5. Have oral understanding of the Spanish language.
  6. Submit a professional essay or letter of intent.

The committee that will evaluate the application for admission may request an interview with the candidate if deemed necessary.

  • Should the Graduate Committee require further information to evaluate an application, the applicant could be required to submit additional information or go through an interview process.
