Abstract:
In the Central Accumulation Area of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, chemical wastes are stored under the 40 CFR Part 262.16 standards. The campus is subject to sanctions for various breaches when it comes to the handling of these chemicals. This project provided documentation of tasks done in the chemical storage unit, various options to fence the perimeter of the storage and provided time of operations to improve the use of resources. As a result this project provided university management options to improve the Central Accumulation Area, with the benefit of adding safety measures to the employees and university personnel.
