Visiting Scholars:
The Instituto Nuevos Horizontes welcomes scholars from around the world to engage with our interdisciplinary humanities community. We invite proposals from faculty members, graduate students, artists, journalists, authors, musicians, postdoctoral researchers, and independent scholars engaged in creative and/or academic research.
Appointments may range from short-term research residencies to semester- or year-long visits, depending on the scholar’s needs and institutional availability. While visiting scholars are expected to be largely self-funded, the Instituto Nuevos Horizontes provides academic affiliation, access to facilities, and participation in a vibrant intellectual community. Visiting scholars are invited to attend the Institute’s academic and public events, including lectures, workshops, and seminars, and may be invited to participate as respondents, moderators, or interlocutors, contributing their expertise to ongoing conversations. Through this program of independent and autonomous research residencies, the Instituto Nuevos Horizontes and the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez reaffirm a commitment to fostering international academic exchange, strengthening the humanities, and promoting research that addresses historical, cultural, and ethical questions that reach across borders and languages.
If you are interested, please send an email to nuevos.horizontes.uprm@gmail.com with a letter of interest that includes a short project description, and a CV. We look forward to learning about your ideas and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
