Director's Message

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Center for Aerospace and Unmanned Systems Engineering (CAUSE).  Since 2003, the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez has offered aerospace engineering programs.  The purpose of the Center is to collaborate with local/federal government, private sectors, and international community to further the nation’s missions in aerospace and unmanned vehicle science and technology.  The center will promote research, education and outreach programs at all levels: K–12 education, undergraduate and graduate degrees at UPRM and industry training.

We expect CAUSE to be a cornerstone of cutting-edge research becoming the Caribbean’s hub of science and technology in aerospace engineering and unmanned vehicles.  The center will allow a broader exposure of our capabilities as an institution to attract high-quality professors, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as get K–12 students interested in this exciting field.  The center will build strong relationships with the government, private, and international industries to access their facilities to conduct high-quality research.

We invite you to join us as we continue our pursuit of cutting-edge research, innovative technology developments and outstanding education for the aeronautic, space and unmanned systems community and the nation.  CAUSE is built on collaborative efforts and will seek individual, institutional and corporate partners with whom to pursue the next great challenges in aerospace and Unmanned Systems research, education and outreach.
