General Provisions for the On-Site, Remote or Hybrid Offering of Defense Oral Exams

Spring Semester 2023-2024

Beginning in the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, each student is responsible for using the online form to submit their application for oral examination and other documents that complement the application.

    • Classes begin for the first four-week summer session and extended session.

  • Wednesday, June 5, 2024

    • Last day to apply for Graduate Studies oral exams for students enrolled in the extended session.

  • Friday, July 5, 2024

    • Last day of classes for the extended session.

    • Last day to take Graduate Studies oral exams in the extended session.

First Semester 2024-2025

    • Orientation for incoming graduate students.

  • Monday, August 12, 2024

    • Classes begin.

    • Last day to apply for admission or readmission to Graduate Studies for the second semester 2024-2025.

    • Last day to file graduation application and pay diploma fees for students completing graduation requirements in the Second Semester 2024-2025 and Summer 2025.

  • Wednesday, November 6, 2024

    • Last day to apply for Graduate Studies oral exams for students enrolled in the extended session.

  • Friday, November 15, 2024

    • Last day to submit study plans for graduate students who began their studies the previous semester.

    • Last day for partial withdrawals.

    • Last day to submit requests to take courses at other institutions (special permission).

  • Friday, December 6, 2024

    • Last day for classes.

    • Last day for total withdrawals.

    • Last day to take oral exams in Graduate Studies.

The Graduate Program of the Mayagüez Campus in School Psychology offers the title of Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology (Ph.D.) with subspecialties in clinical and neuropsychology.
The program is based on a scientific-practitioner model oriented towards prevention and based on an ecological vision of human development.
Students enrolled in the program will have the possibility of receiving graduate assistantship from the second year of study onward if they meet the requirements established in Certification Number 05-62.

The mission of the Graduate Program in School Psychology of the RUM is to prepare professionals and academics to function as agents of change, whose activities promote the psychological and educational development, as well as the well-being of children and adolescents.

The Graduate Program’s main objective is to prepare highly qualified scientist-practitioners, capable of applying broad knowledge and skills for the identification and solution of psychological and educational problems in schools, clinics and other relevant settings for children and adolescents.

Our vision of training and practice in school psychology is based on the accreditation standards of APA (American Psychological Association) and NASP (National Association of School Psychology).

Graduates of the Program will meet the minimum requirements for practicing the profession established by LPRA 96, Law to Regulate the Practice of Psychology in Puerto Rico.

The goals of the program are to show the diversity of opportunities in road safety and to promote in students of multiple disciplines the desire to continue their careers in this dynamic field that is nurtured by a wide variety of disciplines from engineering, education and compliance. law to communications, business, marketing, medicine, public health, political science and counseling among others.
